About The Standby

The Standby was created by Hope and Shelley in the summer of 2007 as a creative outlook in response to their profession, stage management.

Hope and Shelley experienced what they called a “Stage Management Renaissance” in the winter of 2007. During which they worked on When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder? at TheatreVCU. In that time frame they learned as much about stage management as they could in their free time. They began working on what they called Bibles. They began a triumphant and crucial bond with preparing themselves for the stage management world outside of academia. Their serious opinions, life-lessons, failures, and successes are recorded here.
